In the 19th century, baseball teams began wearing to different kinds of uniforms. One uniform would be for home games and the other uniforms would be for the road games. Back in the 1900's, they would wear white as home color and black as road color. Except, some teams would wear light blue for road games. In 1916, the Cleveland Indians were the first team in baseball to have numbers on their jerseys. The numbers were only on their left sleeve not their right sleeve. Now, they have numbers on their backs. They could choose no more than a two number long number. Except, in Japan, they could have three number long number. In the 1900's they have numbers only 50 and above. Major league teams would assign player numbers the players would not choose their numbers. From the 1840's to the 1870's players would wear various baseball hats.
